What is the best place for baby to sleep during those first days? There are all sorts of answers on this ranging from co-sleeping to sleeping in their own room. According to a recent report published in South Africa, ‘right on mom’s chest‘ is the most ideal place.
“Dr Nils Bergman, of the University of Cape Town, South Africa, says that for optimal development, healthy newborns should sleep on their mother’s chest for the first few weeks.”

Absolutely agree.
My kids r 11 and 6 they were in a b$#%&!@*inet 1st week but ever since then been n their own beds thats the way we like it and wanted it. We dont co sleep because im sorry lets face it, its dangerous.
We are a co sleeping family, only when her father works over nights and it just us in bed. My feelin gn on this is if your a drug addict or alcoholic who just p$#%&!@*es out and is unaware of your b hild then dobt co sleep. But if you are a smart loving mother and have a set co sleepibg routine im all for it.
Been successfully co sleeping my kiddos for over 7 years now with on problems!! I don’t drink or do drugs. So this has never been a “dangerous” problem for me!!
We co sleep, there’s more positive to it than there is negative unless you are a real heavy sleeper who toss n turn all the time. 🙂
I have two girls and for both of them I slept with them on my chest all night. I slept better than ever and my girls slept great as well, other than waking up to nurse. Co sleeping is the best thing for you and your baby. And now I have two very strong and independent daughters.
Love it. Great photo. 🙂
I had never intended to cosleep. Came home from the birthing center the same day I gave birth and it just felt natural to sleep together. She is five months old now and has always been a wonderful sleeper from day 1 🙂
Ive co slept with both of mine. It was the only way I could ever get any sleep because neither one would sleep in a b$#%&!@*inet. My son is 2 now and he sleeps in his bed by his self until around 5 then he gets in the bed with me. I wouldn’t change a thing.
this looks like one of those pics that say … dna test? for what?
It can be safe too. Im glad that worked for you. Though for some cosleeping is best
Lol, thanks

How old were they we u put them in their own bed?
my oldest is 4 and my youngest is 18 months. I just put them in their own room together 4 months ago.
I was nervous to co sleep because My boyfriend used to be a tornado in his sleep. Until we had our son! Now he never moves! So we sleep as a family! Or they sleep and I take pictures! My baby won’t sleep more than 15 minutes on his own tho so cosleeping and babywearing are my only options!
Its not good all the time but some snuggle time is still good!
